Memories From Year 8!

Today was supposed to be our first day of EOTC but unfortunately due to bad weather it was cancelled. Instead of camp today we are doing some writing. For this writing we are reflecting on some of our favourite memories of Year 8. One of my favourite arts was experiencing new connect classes and learning some new skills

Here Is My Writing
Across the year we have participated in many academic and physical activities. Outside of our classroom we have also experienced new subjects such as Japanese, Maori, Science & Musical Theatre/Drama. These have all been beneficial classes in experiencing new types of learning.
Japanese has been one of my favourite classes this year as I have been able to learn a new language and stuff about there culture. In Japanese we have made sushi, learnt the languages, learnt how to write in 3 styles Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji, and most recently doing Japanese calligraphy using Indian ink.
Maori has been an interesting class for this year, Although I have been doing Te Reo in school for several years this year we focused on more specific areas. Most recently we have been learning about Marae Tikanga and Marae Protocol in preparation for EOTC week Marae trip.
This year science has been one of my favourite connect classes because we did more experiments than last year. I felt I was more interested in the topics and experiments from this year rather than last year. Although I haven't got a science badge yet I have enjoyed working towards earning them as well learning more about Forensic Science and more fun activities such as making sherbet and hokey pokey.
Musical theatre was one of the first connect classes we experienced this year and I thoroughly enjoyed both the performances our class along side 8Sh performed in. We performed "We know the way" from Moana and a original written musical "Little Red In Hornbyville". I learnt more about all of the different aspects needed to create and perform a good musical.

Overall this years connect classes have been great experiences and I have learnt alot about different topics. I am eager to continue these classes for the next few years in my school.

  1. Hi Ruby!

Wow you worked very hard on your writing today and told us a lot about what 8Bh got to experience this year. You had the chance to try so many new classes and work with so many new teachers. I am so happy this was a positive experience for you and that you enjoyed trying everything from Japanese to making hokey pokey.

I have really enjoyed having you in 8Bh and I know you will be successful in whichever classes you take in Year 9!
