For one of todays reading tasks we were to write a non acrostic poem as if we were in Rio at the 2016 Olympics watching golf or seves rugby. I chose to do golf as I understood more about the sport.
As I was waiting by the course
When he hit the ball with force
I was smiling all over
Could this be our chance?
I wanted to get up and dance
Would we win gold?
Or silver or bronze
He hit the ball
And it went flying
Rolling on and on
He moved closer and took another shot
I could tell his stomach was in knots
The ball rolled closer
It dropped in the hole
And victory we stole
On the podium we stood strong and proud
Screaming and yelling was coming from the crowd
This was this years first gold and I was as nervous as ever
This will be remembered forever
Great poem Ruby. Is it written from the point of view of a reporter reporting on the sport?
