Water Bottle Rockets

For the past term of science we have been learning about Flight & Aerodynamics. Recently over the last 3 weeks we have been making bottle rockets. We worked in groups of 2 or 3 and I worked with Sam and Austin. We made our rockets using plastic bottles, tape, cardboard, water and an air compressor. We constructed wings on the bottle using cardboard and tape.

We filled the bottles with different volumes of water and attached them to the tube of an air compressor, after sending several pumps of air into the rocket the rocket then fly's. When we tried it they flew quite far, the water sprayed everywhere when it was floating in the air. We eventually decided the more water inside the farther it flew, however there had to be enough room for the air.

I thought this was a fun activity and I enjoyed learning about flight. I learnt a lot of interesting facts about flight. The rockets were cool and it was fun to learn how to construct a rocket

I really enjoyed getting to watch 8BH in science yesterday shooting off the rockets you constructed. It was a lot of fun. You wrote a really nice blog post using great scientific words and phrases. I can tell that you made a connection to what you were learning.

I challenge you to go for your Science badge this year!
