This term our assistant Principal introduced the junior school to a new reading programme called Reading Plus. Reading plus is an online program to help with reading and comprehension. The programme takes your G-rate (what speed you read at) and gives you work assigned to your level. You can earn rewards and combos. A combo is completing two reading & comprehension activities with a score of at least 80% in a row.
Our teacher has created a reward programme within the classroom. Carr Cards are rewards Hornby High receives. You fill in the cards with stamps to win vouchers and other rewards. Everytime our names are on the leader board within the class we will receive stamps depending on our positions. The different categories rewards can be won by are Most Words Read,Overall High Score, Strong comprehension, Rewards Earned and Weekly Champs.
I have been liking using reading plus for the past term and I think my reading and comprehension level has improved. I think it is cool to have a new different variety of reading activities and stories. I hope we can continue to use this tool because my teachers have been noticing improvements.
Kia ora Ruby! I am so impressed with how you got down to it today to complete this post. You offered some really thoughtful opinions on Reading Plus and included your own personal experiences. I am noticing an improvement in your reading, and I am happy to hear that you like being able to use different tools to help your comprehension.
ReplyDeleteKeep using Reading Plus as much as you can to keep those gains coming!
