The Lorax

For our new Kete, toitutanga (sustainability) the year 7 block watched The Lorax. The Lorax is a movie about a mythical creature who speaks for the trees as the trees don't have a voice. He shows the harmful consequences that can happen when you aren't sustainable and contribute to pollution. I learnt a lot from the movie and it gave me a different perspective on pollution and the struggles the enviroment faces.

What was the big idea of the movie?
I think the big idea of the movie was to persuade us to realise that our actions can cause harmful consequences to the enviroment, and that we take advantage of what we have and we don't realise how important it is until it is gone.

What does the author want you to think about?
I think the author of the book (Dr Suess) wanted us to think that we need to protect the enviroment and prevent deforestation, logging and pollution other wise there could be devastating consequences.

What are the key concepts?
The key concepts I thought of were sustainability, think before you do, actions have consequences, protect the enviroment and ripple effect.

Overall it was a fun learning experience which I have taken some knowledge from and I will now try and do my part in protecting the enviroment and not take what we have for advantage
