The SVA is the Student Volunteer Army. The SVA originated in Christchurch in 2010 - 2011 after the horrible earthquakes destroying our cities, Students from the University of Canterbury formed and created the group. The volunteer army hosts 4 major volunteering events a year with between 100 - 1000 volunteers. They help our city by cleaning up after natural disasters and helping out around the town. There are several different jobs that are important when doing bigger jobs with lots of people. Some people cook food and bring water, provide transport, provide materials as well as sponsors helping provide materials.
The SVA does a lot of helpful things that benefit our cities and helps us when in need. It is awesome to know people from here in Christchurch help each other and our lands in need.
