We recently watched 2 videos about peoples struggles with their names which were hard and in different languages. We also watched a video from Uzo Aduba and how she wanted to change her name when she was younger because people couldn't pronounce her name. We had to write a response to the video and what we though about them
My Response:
After watching the videos it made me feel lucky to have a simple, common name but it also made me feel sad that people thought they had to change or not be themselves because everyone is beautiful and unique and should be able to be themselves and have a unique name without being judged or made fun of.
Ruby, I like how you explained the videos we watched in class and then provided a thoughtful response. I also feel lucky to have a fairly common first name, but sometimes get frustrated as many people muck up my surname! I can understand a little bit how the people felt in the video.
