On Monday the junior school of HHS (year 7 & 8) went to Orana Wildlife park for a school trip.
We were put into 7 groups each with a different teacher, My group had Mrs Shehata as our group teacher as well as Denise who was part of the Orana Park staff who showed us around.
First we had a small morning on a deck with a glass border over looking a small lake with ducks and geese. Then we separated into our groups headed off, 4 groups went to the west side of the park and and 4 went to the east side of the park.
There were several animals around the park such as lions, rhino's, cheetahs, kiwi's, apes, gibbons, water buffaloes, tiger's, meerkat's, giraffe's, reptile's, otters and kea's.
My personal favourite animal that was there was the giraffes. We fed then an assortment of leaves and they came close and fed off them. All the giraffes were so beautiful and there tongues were so big.
Overall I had a fun time at Orana park. It was fascinating to learn about the diets and habitats for all the animals.
